Methodology
Data Sources
PFRegistry collects information from multiple sources:
- Publicly available firm websites.
- User contributions submitted through the registry interface.
- Structured data feeds from external providers such as PropFirmDiscount.com.
No single source is treated as authoritative. All data is recorded as observations with timestamps indicating when the information was obtained. External providers are not endorsed by PFRegistry.
Observation Model
PFRegistry uses a time-aware observation model. Each piece of information is recorded as:
- The observed value.
- The date the observation was made.
- The source type (public, user contribution, external feed).
This model preserves historical context. When a firm's information changes, previous observations remain in the record. The current display shows the most recent observation for each field.
What "Observed" Means
When PFRegistry states that a value was "observed," this means:
- The value was present in a source at the time of observation.
- The registry recorded the value without modification.
- No verification of accuracy or correctness was performed.
Observation does not imply endorsement, verification, or recommendation.
Update and Change Tracking
Data in PFRegistry may be updated through:
- Automated synchronization with external data feeds.
- User-submitted corrections or additions.
- Manual review by registry maintainers.
All changes are logged with timestamps. The registry maintains a history of observations to enable tracking of how information has changed over time.
Limitations of the Data
PFRegistry data has inherent limitations:
- Information may be outdated. The displayed date indicates when data was observed, not necessarily its current state.
- Sources may contain errors. PFRegistry records observations without validating their accuracy.
- Coverage is incomplete. Not all firms or all information about each firm is represented.
- No quality assessment is performed. Inclusion does not indicate firm quality or legitimacy.
Users should verify information independently before making decisions.
